Under the leadership of Moussa Zan Diarra, the national coordinator of Tournons La Page Mali (TLP-Mali), the elective General Assembly for the regional coordination of TLP-Mali was successfully held in Kayes, located 614 km from the capital, Bamako, on Friday, September 20, 2024. Members gathered in a solemn atmosphere with a singular purpose: to establish the TLP-Kayes office. Following the formation of the new office, a message was sent to the Guinean authorities calling for the unconditional release of comrades Billo Bah and Foniké Menguè, who were unjustly abducted in Guinea last August.

Participants from various associations unanimously stressed the importance of revitalizing local initiatives. The goal is clear: to strengthen a regional structure that can better address the needs of youth and civil society in a national context shaped by the military coup that occurred on August 19, 2020. "It is crucial for our region to establish a credible structure capable of overcoming the challenges faced by national organizations," stated one participant, emphasizing the significance of this initiative.

Election of the New Board by Acclamation

After a session of questions and answers, particularly regarding the movement's Statutes and Internal Regulations, discussions swiftly led to the election of the new board. The participants elected the 11 members of the regional coordination office by acclamation, appointing Aliou Dembélé, a representative of the Network of Active Youth of Kayes, as the coordinator. He will take on the important responsibility of leading this office for a three-year term that cannot be renewed.
