A dead city day will be held in Greater Conakry on Monday August 12, 2024, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The initiative launched by the Guinean Vital Forces (FVG) in a statement released on August 5, aims to mobilize citizens in and around the capital around several key demands.

These are the unconditional and immediate release of the coordinator of the National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC), Oumar Sylla, also known as Foniké Menguè, and of the head of the FNDC's branches and mobilization and coordinator of Tournons La Page Guinea (TLP- Guinea), Mamadou Billo Bah. These two leading figures of Guinean civil society were abducted from their homes at around 10:30pm on July 9 by armed men.

The FVG also demand a return to constitutional order through the organization of inclusive and transparent elections before December 31, 2024, and the rigorous application of the fundamental principles of the transition Charter, in particular with regard to individual freedoms and human rights. This also includes banning those responsible for the current transition from standing in the next elections, in order to ensure a truly democratic transition.

This day of mobilization is part of a series of actions planned by the FVG.
