― 11 organisations
Coordinating organization :
Justice et Paix - Pointe Noire

About the coalition:

It was in the Congo that the idea of launching the Tournons La Page international movement took shape, in particular through national coordinator Brice MACKOSSO. A leading figure in civil society in the Republic of Congo, Brice MACKOSSO has been fighting for good economic and political governance for 20 years. Despite pressure, he demands that the country's oil wealth be put to work for development, and believes in the politics of small steps. In Congo, the Tournons La Page (TLP) coalition brings together 11 civil society organizations, including:

1- Action Evangélique pour la Paix (AEP)
7. Fondation NIOSI
2. MC Ras-le-bol
8. Centre des Droits de l'Homme et du Développement (CDHD)
3. Association des Victimes du M22
9. Plateforme Congo Maison Commune
4. Rencontre pour la Paix et les Droits de l'Homme (RPDH)
10. Réseau d'Associations des Jeunes Leaders Congolais (RAJLC)
5. Commission Episcopale Justice et Paix
11. Commission Diocésaine
6. Mouvement pour la Culture Citoyenne

Context:

According to Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index, Congo ranks 154th out of 177 countries. In the Congo, laws restricting civic space can be found everywhere, from restrictions on freedom of assembly to arbitrary detentions, and the list of violations goes on and on. Recently, activists attempted to demonstrate against the poor quality of services provided by the national electricity company and requested authorization from the prefecture, but two days in advance, the departmental prefect banned the demonstration on the pretext of protecting public order. The organizer went there on the day of the demonstration and was arrested by the police.
