The first International Meeting on Popular and Solidarity Education (RIEPS) was held from June 4 to 7, 2024, in Abidjan and Grand-Bassam (Côte d'Ivoire), under the coordination of the Center for Research and Information for Development (CRID) and the Sterna Africa association. The event brought together over a hundred stakeholders involved in Education for Citizenship and International Solidarity (ECSI). Represented by Jacques SAHAM NGARASSAL, Coordinator of Tournons La Page Tchad, and Estelle AKPA-N'KAKOU, General Treasurer of Tournons La Page Bénin, TLP used the occasion to forge closer links between international popular education stakeholders. The event provided an opportunity to share practices and experiences in popular education and civic campaigns, to discuss international solidarity and civic engagement in various contexts, to advocate greater support for popular education in Africa, to organize discussions around the "Festisol" (Solidarity Festival) 2024 Focus "Environment and People's Rights", and to strengthen international popular education networks.

The first day (June 4, 2024) was held at the Centre de Recherche et d'Actions pour la Paix (CERAP) in Cocody Mermoz (Abidjan), where round tables and workshops were held, with the participation of renowned institutions such as the French Development Agency (AFD), the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and France Volontaires. Discussions focused on the role of institutions in popular and solidarity-based education, youth volunteering and commitment, the involvement of local authorities, popular education in educational environments and the structuring of popular and solidarity-based education players.

The second day was a real immersion in the town of Grand-Bassam. Participants exchanged views with local players on popular education practices. They were welcomed by notables from the royal palace to the quartier France, who explained the customs and habits of the N'zima. It was also an opportunity for them to learn more about the history of Côte d'Ivoire and the town of Grand-Bassam. The "community day" also included a buffet, games, entertainment and a late-night concert on Grand-Bassam beach.

Over the last two days (June 6 and 7), 18 workshops covering topics such as popular education, international solidarity, the environment, people's rights, equality, democracy and the power to act, were held in the rooms of the "Le Régent" hotel in Grand-Bassam.
