DRC: Publication of the "Congo hold-up" report
Communiqué  Posté le 22-11-2021 13:50, par Tournons la Page

TLP-DRC has followed with great interest the publication, this Friday, November 19, 2021, of the report "Congo Hold-Up". This report, the result of investigations conducted over nine months by 19 media outlets and 5 NGOs specializing in economic issues, traces, in particular, all the misappropriations of public funds by the family of former Congolese President Joseph Kabila and his inner circle.

TLP-RDC welcomes this publication which has just exposed the predation and theft of national resources and wealth as a mode of management by all Congolese leaders, past and present, and which deprives the Congolese people of access to happiness and well-being. The majority of resources and wealth remain the sole property of the ruling families and their socio-political clans.

In view of the seriousness of these revelations, TLP-RDC, whose one of the fights is the fight against the monopolization of wealth by political leaders and their clans, invites the Congolese and international judicial authorities to take up this serious information in order to initiate legal proceedings against former President Joseph Kabila as well as all those who are mentioned in the Congo Hold-Up report, whether they are from the former regime or the current government in the DRC. To do so would be a very strong signal against all these defendants and a step against the impunity that protects them.

TLP-DRC finally invites the whole population of the DRC to remain vigilant and ready to mobilize as one man to demand an end to the mismanagement and social injustices to which it has been subjected since our independence.

In the DRC, as elsewhere, there can be no real democracy or development without an equitable distribution of national wealth and resources.
