Every year the Africans Rising movement organises the African Movement of the Year Award. For the first time Tournons La Page was among the 10 nominees of the year 2020 and after three weeks of voting, our movement was elected African Movement of the Year!
Tournons La Page would like to thank Africans Rising, organisers of this grand prize, and all those who voted. The movement would also like to congratulate all the other organisations and activists nominated for their excellent work in the defence of human rights throughout the African continent and invites all Africans to mobilise for a better future, a future of peace and development.
The African Movement of the Year Award is an important recognition of the collective work carried out by our movement in defence of human rights and democracy in Africa, as elsewhere. It is also a motivation to continue the work we have undertaken since the creation of the organisation.
This award is dedicated to all our members who have been detained or threatened, notably Oumar Sylla Foniké Menguè, who has been detained in Guinea for more than 4 months, as well as Mahamat Nour Ibedou and Aimé Bona Assadji who were arrested in Chad last week.
Our vision is to build the broadest possible citizens' alliance in Africa, as elsewhere, in order to meet the needs of the people and to promote good governance and democratic alternation. This prize will undoubtedly be an asset in terms of visibility and credibility that will help us meet this ambition.
